In Short
Digital technologies are pervasive; they transform our ability to connect, affect our understanding of the world and ourselves, and can change our behaviors in ways we don’t even recognize. Industrial design students, in particular, have a vast digital well-being space engaging with multimedia throughout their day for school, work, and leisure. While the advantages of these new technologies are clear, constant use may also yield negative consequences, such as a loss of productivity due to interruptions in work life. Therefore, we aim to raise a deeper awareness and encourage a healthier relationship with their smartphones and digital systems. The Rethink Experience encourages people to reflect critically on their digital well-being space. It increases users’ awareness of their relationships with digital technologies throughout the day and helps them implement boundaries and tips to enable digital well-being.
